About the role

The Mine Engineer role offers an exceptional opportunity to produce short-term development, longhole drill and blast layouts, following mining progress and making adjustments as required at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation. You will also be responsible for reconciling longhole stopes upon completion.

 

The position will be on an 7/7 roster (12 hour days) and will be based residentially in Red Lake, OntarioFIFO is not available.

 

Key result areas in this role include:

  • Collect all pertinent information on a work heading and inform all affected parties.
  • Develop conceptual mining sequences in conjunction with other departments.
  • Develop and produce mining development layouts to maximise longhole extraction as per development standards.
  • Ensure that geological and survey data are updated prior to creating layouts.
  • Produce layouts, showing plan and true sectional views with ore body limits, reference lines and production charts as per standards, as well as “Toe/Collar Maps”.
  • Stay current of activities within respective headings and remain abreast of production and drilling rates to accurately schedule and prioritize required work.
  • Track progress in each heading and to report on any variances to plan.
  • Update records with actual drilling as indicated on the daily drilling reports.
  • Design blasts as per the drill and blast guidelines and ensure that all necessary products are available by interacting with the long-hole supervisor and explosive suppliers.
  • Perform underground QAQC inspections of Long-hole drilling and loading.
  • Tabulate and report on total long-hole drill footage and tonnes blasted, as required.
  • Prepare and issue backfill layouts as required.
  • Update all stopes / development headings prior to forecast meetings.
  • Attend and participate in conceptual and forecast meetings.
  • Facilitate meetings with longhole drillers when performing remote drilling or non-routine hazardous tasks.
  • Ensure all guidelines are updated accordingly when methods/procedures are revised.
  • Ensure that all plans are approved before issuing them to the underground workforce.

About you

As a Mine Engineer, it is preferred that you have Mining Engineering degree or a related technical degree.

 

It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate: 

  • Several years of mining experience in Engineering, Surveying or Mining.
  • Familiar with the use of long-hole drill and development equipment
  • Working knowledge of Deswik (CAD and UGDB)
  • Familiar with the Engineering design principles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants
  • Advanced drafting skills
  • Familiarity with mining methods and cycles
