About the role
The Contracts and Procurement Specialist role offers the opportunity to provide expertise and guidance to Evolution stakeholders for the procurement of goods and services and for contract and contractor management activities. You will be responsible for ensuring all procurement activities align with our values, delivering value for money and sustainable outcomes that support timely and successful operations.
The roster will be 5 days on, 2 days off and 4 days off and 3 days off – 9.5 hour shifts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Build relationships and engage with stakeholders to determine business needs, requirements, changes, risks and expectations to enable fully informed procurement planning, scoping and sourcing decisions
- Develop sourcing strategies that reflect the risk and value of items and/or services being procured, and in accordance with the Procurement Management Plan
- Prepare category spend analysis and compile sourcing documents for market testing
- Conduct and lead end to end sourcing activities in accordance with established policies and procedures and participate in negotiations to establish effective supply arrangements with preferred vendors
- Provide timely and accurate commercial advice and support to contract owners and operational departments
- Management and development of contractor reporting templates for monthly contract reviews
- Contribute to the development and implementation of contract management plans; provide commercial advice to support resolution of contract issues and negotiate contract variations through effective supplier relationships to enhance business outcomes
- Coordination of variations, disputes and general commercial correspondence with third party vendors
- Provide governance assistance and guidance on procurement related matters to EVN stakeholders and support good practice in procurement
- Maintain contracts register and ensure information is current, accurate and complete
- Maintain and update spend report and prepare reports on procurement and contract activity to meet organisational requirements.
About you
As the Contracts and Procurement Specialist, you will have a post-secondary education, CSCMP Designation or equivalent. Mining industry technical background would be beneficial although not essential.
It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:
- Have experience working in a professional environment, ideally gained in the resources, construction or industrial services industries
- Experience in contract development, including contracting model selection, development and implementation
- Ability to administer commercial relationships in accordance with contractual obligations
- Negotiation and close out of commercial claims, including variations, extension of time and disputes
- Ability to communicate, at times, difficult decisions and to negotiate outcomes in the interest of the business
- Working understanding and knowledge of the types of commercial agreements used in the mining and metals sector in Canada
- Experience in the use of Open Windows, contract management and procurement software suite
- Competent in the day-to-day use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs, ideally at an advanced level. Ability to prepare, analyse, profile and present data, in a structured and logical format.
- Ability to engage with and manage the expectations of a diverse range of stakeholders with different (and often competing) priorities
- Strong team focus, collaboration skills and prepared to listen to feedback
- Ability to be accountable for actions in the delivery of business outcomes
- Intermediate level of commercial acumen and relationship building skills.
