About our Operation
Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.
About the Role
The purpose of the Supervisor – Mining role is to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Mining crew at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation – Balmer Site. You will manage a crew of production, development, and construction miners.
- Roster: 14 days on / 14 days off - 12-hour shifts
- Camp and FIFO offered (if required)

About the role
The Supervisor - Mining role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead and inspire team members to safely execute mining plans.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Lead and inspire team members to safely execute mining plans.
- Prioritize work headings, ensuring a safe environment.
- Chair safety and production meetings.
- Strive to meet daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
- Retrieve, analyze and track relevant data.
- Develop daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly plans.
- Collaborate with others and network with other departments.
- Recognize the impact of today’s job on the 3-month plan.
- Follow production and safety charts and trends.
- Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and lawful directions as assigned by your supervisor
About you
As a Supervisor – Mining, you will have a Secondary School Diploma and have previously obtained the Ontario Basic Hard Rock Miner Certificate (Underground Common Core) as well as successfully passed the Ontario Supervisor Common Core Program. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- 3 years of directly related experience, or several years’ experience working and progressing through various levels of underground mining
- Extensive experience in underground mining
- Solid background in production mining
- Strong understanding of various mining methods and procedures (longhole, cut and fill, development, etc.).
- Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants
- Strong time-management and prioritization capabilities
- Good written and verbal communication abilities
- Willing and able to participate in courses and developmental training programs
- Contributes to overall team success
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
- Well-developed decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Sound organizational skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office programs and navigate and retrieve information from a database.
- Ability to inspire, motivate and manage performance of others
- Capable of visualizing what lies ahead
- Possesses a strong work ethic
- Enthusiastic with a high level of energy
- Strong planning and directing skills
- Encourages a climate of teamwork and collaboration
- Works well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
