About the role

The Recreation Centre Supervisor offers an exceptional opportunity responsible for management of the recreation facilities, providing clean and safe opportunities for sport and recreation and promoting a healthy lifestyle for all employees and community residents. This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy.

 

The position will be on an 5/2/4/3 (9.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.

We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $75,000 to $84,000 CAD.

Key result areas in this role include:

  • Oversee general operation and maintenance of Recreation Centre (e.g., pool, rink, weight room, bowling alley, lounge, baseball field, etc.)
  • Recruit and hire qualified staff members for respective areas
  • Supervise Recreation Centre staff including summer students and summer camp activities
  • Chair safety meetings and maintain emergency preparedness procedures
  • Ensure staff members are adequately trained and certified; arrange training as required to ensure Recreation Centre operates in a healthy and safe environment
  • Develop, implement, and promote a schedule of programmed activities and community events
  • Manage social media (Facebook) and other external communications
  • Oversee outside contractors that work at Recreation Centre and pool areas
  • Produce and revise staff work schedule including payroll
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports and billings
  • Produce annual budget and manage costs to stay within budget

 

About you

As the Supervisor Recreation Centre, you will have a Secondary School Diploma with a combination of experience working in a recreational centre or similar operation. A college diploma in Recreation & Leisure related programs is considered an asset.

 

It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate: 

  • Valid Class G driver’s license
  • Experience in supervisor duties and strong leadership skills
  • Experience in recreational program delivery
  • Experience in pool operation and certified as Lifeguard and Instructor
  • Competent conflict management and resolution abilities
  • Ability to manage performance of others
  • Strong business acumen (general business, sales and marketing-related)
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Good communication and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and general financial knowledge
  • Good decision-making capabilities
  • Strong computer skills with strength working with Microsoft Word and Excel programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
