The Principal Mining Engineer – Technical Services role will provide technical expertise to enable the Group Technical Services team and other Group functions to deliver strategic and tactical objectives. The role ensures delivery of the Open Pit Mining Engineering strategy across Evolution with a focus on excellence, benchmarking and continual improvement. The role will interact regularly with senior leaders and influence multi-disciplinary teams.

About the role

This role is responsible for providing specialist Mining Engineer technical support, underground and open cut, to Assets and Group functions.  In addition to providing technical support the role also identifies opportunities for value accretion across the business, supporting the development of ongoing and new projects and providing guidance on current Evolution and global best practice and innovation in Mine Planning.

• Provide specialist Mine Planning support, Open Pit and Underground, to operations and functions
• Maintain good relationships with site Planning and Operational teams and ensure the GTS Mining team is abreast of current performance and issues at sites
• Develop and ccoordinate Mining Engineering standards and guidelines and liaise with operations to implement
• Provide technical peer review of capital requests, studies, reports & board papers
• Provide specialist technical support for Group level directional studies
• Measure, track and review compliance to company & industry Mine Planning and Operational standards (as assigned)
• Lead, facilitate and participate RCA & technical investigations as required
• Monitor Group level Planning & Operational KPI’s to assist in development and execution of the Group Level improvement process to identify and deliver value improvement

About you

To succeed in this position, you will drive innovation within Evolution and identify operation Mining Engineering opportunities through a continuous improvement framework. You will also require:

• Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering
• Post graduate qualification in a related or relevant discipline preferred
• Applicability for Member of Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy or similar professional affiliation
• Minimum 10 years in metalliferous operations, Mining Engineering (Planning and Operations) with a strong background in gold and/or copper
• Underground experience key to role however experience with Open Pit also well regarded
• Demonstrated success in delivering improvement and transformation
